Recruiting for Kingsman: The Secret Service!

I saw this movie yesterday on Feb 8, 2015.

It was really good, many laughs all round in the cinema from other patrons. That meant that other people enjoyed it as well! Sometimes, you may even get people applauding at the end!

This movie was quite clever. Combining Action, Adventure, Secret Service/Spy/James Bond kind of danger, cool gadgets, fun and of course, you mustn’t  forget the girls!

Seriously, this movie could teach you a thing or two about:
1. Reinventing yourself.
2. Having fun while you do it.
3. Having the right coach/mentor helps.
4. The recruitment process for Top Level Operatives.
5. How Special edition products like the Bremont watch are promoted.

Not only was Eggy (played by Taron Egerton) recruited by Galahad (Colin Firth) as a potential replacement for Lancelot, Eggy likened his mentoring process as “My Fair Lady” like, to the wry amusement of Galahad.

The mentoring was so good that Eggy did what Galahad had done before in the pub scene at the end of the movie. “As a friend of mine said…”

This movie is also important for Colin Firth, as this is a pleasant and successful departure from his normal romantic comedies and historical romances.

Colin had played:

  1. The romantic Mr. Darcy in Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” and
  2. Darcy in “Bridget Jones Diary”.

Millions of women loved Mr. Darcy!

When you’re successful in a certain role or genre, it can limit your opportunities if people cannot see past that.

Reinventing himself as an Action hero/spy is timely at this stage of his career when he’s older and the chances of playing the lead role in romantic movies diminishes.

Not all Reinventions/Career Change are Successful

Keanu Reeves discovered that his “Matrix” persona was so entrenched that he’s had trouble to break out of Neo, `The One’ character, in later films. None of them were as successful as the Matrix. In fact, disappointing…

So my question to you is, is this idea worth exploring for you?

Are you tired of the same old, same old?

At this stage of your career or life, do you long for something different? Perhaps you’ve dreamt of becoming a movie star, comedian, celebrity chef, singer, writer or motivational speaker, travel blogger!

If yes, I invite you to watch this movie and see how you can use some of the ideas here!

Liam Neeson successfully reinvented himself into an Action Hero before he was 60. Read more below. Liam started in 2009. I believe this helped Colin Firth to change too.

What would it take for YOU to be recruited as a Top Operative?

Oh yeah, gotta have that gold cigarette lighter (even though I don’t smoke) ’cause it looks cool!

I suppose the boys would like the watch? Leave me a comment if you do!
